John Barrus: Math Ninja

Hello fellow students! My name is John Barrus. I know how hard and frustrating it is to grasp new concepts (especially in math and science), so I’m completely patient and comfortable when we need to start at the basics. You can rest assured, there are no dumb questions when I’m your tutor! We’ll spend as much time as you need to understand the concepts. If you got the basics down, then we’ll focus on exactly what you want and need to learn to succeed.

I graduated from Brigham Young University with a masters degree in electrical engineering, where I asked a lot of dumb questions to get a solid understanding of the basics. It was there that I gained a love for math, computers, and helping others to understand both.  I now work at a large engineering firm where I use math to solve complex problems every day. I’m well-versed in algebra, trigonometry, calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, physics, C++ and Java programming. My teaching experience includes K-12 tutoring, being a teaching assistant in college, and teaching professional enrichment courses at work.

In my free time, I enjoy sports, reading science fiction and fantasy, and spending time with family. I live in Tucson, AZ, but am available to tutor on-line.
